Children's Ministry
Sunday Morning
Children are welcome at our service at Crowmoor at 10.30am. They usually join in with the first part of the service, where there may be a talk or song that is for all to enjoy and learn from, particularly the children. During the sermon or message the children usually leave the service to go to their groups, either the creche for toddlers, or the church hall for the primary aged children. Various resources are used to introduce the primary aged children to some aspect of Christian teaching, a Bible story or character. Our aim is to make the experience fun, engaging and to help them in their Christian faith journey, through a combination of games, activities, crafts, and stories.
Our children's leaders all meet Shrewsbury Baptist Church's safeguarding policy requirements and have a DBS check.

Little Fishes Baby and Toddler Group
Little Fishes is our baby and toddler group which meets at Central (upstairs above
Palmer’s Coffee Shop) on Tuesdays 10:00 -11:30am in term time. We welcome
mums and dads, grandparents and carers and of course their little ones. There’s
always much needed tea and coffee available all morning for the adults, and plenty
of free play, dressing up, simple craft activity, books to read, and no end of toys for
the children. Then at about 11 we begin to pack up, and the children sit around the
low tables and we provide nibbles for them, and we sing happy birthday to the
birthday children. We always finish with a lively sing song, with actions of course,
often with percussion instruments thrown in!
At the heart of all we do is the desire to build relationships with the parents and
children, to get alongside them, and to encourage them during those sometimes
difficult years with young children. There’s always lots of fun too, and sometimes a
fair amount of mess, but the thing that gives us joy is to see the families come in
with a smile on their faces.
We usually ask for a £2:50 contribution, but we would never want money to be a
reason for someone not to enjoy our activities. Everyone is assured of a warm
welcome!
Open the Book in Local Schools
A team of adults from the church, use the power of a good story to regularly deliver Open the Book school assemblies in our two local local primary schools, Crowmoor and Belvidere. The group uses drama, with lots of costumes and props, to act out stories from the Bible. They share the Christian message with the children in a format that is fun and interactive. The children take great delight in welcoming the team to their school for what is usually a very memorable assembly. The church has close links with both schools which use our Crowmoor building for their Harvest and Christmas celebrations.
